We also know that you can do the power
calculation to find how much Kw you need for the HP of the dyno but even if a
generator is rated for enough power it might not be able to run a dyno if
the control system is not good enough. Low cost home type generators generally
can not keep up with the variable power requirements of something like the AC/DC
drive inside our damper dynamometers. We
have found for a 5HP / 5VS and lower, the following generator will work.
