In
general, all of Roehrig Engineering’s software is developed in house by us with
input from our customers. Our
software platforms had their start over 25 years ago and continue to evolve
based on requirements of the testing equipment and the need of the end user.
Windows based and mouse driven, it has won over the harshest critics and
leant itself to first time computer users the world over.
SHOCK 6: Damper Development and Performance
Testing
All
Roehrig Engineering damper dynamometers use Shock 6 Test & Control Software to
develop tests, execute them and collect the resulting data.
Various versions of Shock have been developed with customer driven
features and requests over the last 20 years.
As a result, Shock 6 is the industry’s most advanced fully Windows
compliant, 32 bit software that a user can find while being simple to use.
The
user can choose from a number of test formats including CVP (constant velocity
plot), PVP (peak velocity plot) and MCVP (multiple constant velocity plots).
With the MCVP, the user can also decide to run at various speeds to
characterize a damper for different road events or choose to run at a given
speed multiple times and thus collect many different settings for use with
adjustable dampers. Or combine
these into a batch test for additional information.
Shock 6
allows for a warm up cycle using temperature or time as the trigger.
The user can perform a gas force measurement in the case of dampers with
gas chambers done at mid stroke or use multiple points to create a curve that
takes into account displacement of the shaft.
Seal drag testing through a range and velocity for friction testing.
Use
predefined graphing, Force vs. Velocity, Force vs. Displacement or Signal vs.
Time and even create your own using Signal vs. Signal. Live screen, Validation,
Average are all part of the standard software.
SPRING 6: Manual Spring Testing
Developed in conjunction with Shock 6, Spring 6 has been developed over the last
15 years to provide the user with all the function they need to collect the
information they require to characterize springs.
As is all Roehrig software, it is user driven and developed in accordance
with needs as well as goals.
By
combining a user defined preload and test range, the software allows for a large
array of data presented in easy to read graphs all at the click of a mouse.
By using a preload, the spring can be viewed in a test range realistic to
its given use while ensuring that it has met its given initial load.
This is all done dynamically to give more accurate to the real world
results.
Able to
do pass / fail validation inspection.
ASR: Force Based Spring and Elastomer Testing in
Compression and Extension
The Advanced Spring Rating software is one of our newer products.
It was developed in conjunction with our NASCAR teams measuring coil bind
and our valve spring manufactures wanting to quantify spring behavior.
The ASR software allows the user to work in the force domain so that they
collect data in the compression and extension portions of spring travel.
With its unique ability in the industry to collect and display the rate
data based on a semi-dynamic test, the user is given a better view of the
spring. Data can be viewed in
either graph format or number report tables with the click of a mouse.
It is able to do a constant triangle wave input at a given velocity to develop a
hysteresis curve in the compression and extension portion of the springs travel.
It can also do the old industry standards step test and point test.
Lastly, it can perform a statistical batch test complete with final
results in statistical mode to discern quality of a given batch of springs.
For all tests, the data is available to be queried in a number of ways to
give the user the power to retrieve any amount of data in the range they need to
quantify.
BAR: Torsion Bar Rating
Like the spring software Bar allows the user to define a preload and test range
to twist a torsion bar. Data can be viewed in a bar Rate vs. Load or Rotation,
or Torque vs. Rotation. Like all REI
program Signal vs Time or Signal vs. Signal graphs are available as well as user
definable math channels. The user can write math channels to plot spring rates
at the end of a torsion bar arm or travel at the end of a arm.
DLT: Durability Life Test - Durability Running
with nested Performance Tests
Durability Life Testing Software is capable of running on any REI hardware
platform, including RoSA, EMA and SYD series. Using a Test Setup Wizard,
the user can easily setup a customized extended test profile for up to 4
specimens consisting of 2 independent cyclic durability steps of any duration,
with the option of conducting nested performance tests after each block of
cycles. Force and Temperature Under peak and Over peak Limits can be
customized for each durability step and digital outputs can be controlled for
greater testing flexibility.
The main operating screen provides the user with instant
feedback including cycle counts, limit status, trend graphs, as well as
constantly updating force vs. displacement and force vs. velocity plots.
Results are saved to preformatted reports for future reference.
Performance test results can be viewed from another remote computer even while
the durability test is still running, can be over laid for comparison, and are
compatible with REI's standard Shock program for greater flexibility.

GLT: General Line Test - Production Line
Characterization
The GLT, General Line Test series has been specifically written for use in the
production environment to easily setup and run standard characterization tests.
Current capabilities include Touch screen operation, batch file setup
with variable test parameters, statistics with automatic limit calculations,
dynamic analysis as well as PLC integration for automation and part handling.

QLT: Quality Line Test - Pass / Fail Analysis
For quality control testing where a simple red/green light pass fail is
required. QT overlays the standard Shock program. Using the standard test and
validation in Shock 6 a user can design a QC test. Operator just has a start
test button to depresses,, after the test is run a pass/fail light will inform
the operator if the test specimen falls within the validation parameters.
TIME: Simple signal collections
Roehrig Engineering’s very own version of data acquisition software driven by
the user. This can be used in
conjunction with Shock to collect channels using triggers setup by the operator.
Information is then displayed using Shock 6 in the Signal vs. Time area
of the software.
Shock for EMA: Variable Wave Form Generator
This software has the look and feel of Shock 6 with the advanced ability to
create or import a variable wave form using an integrated advanced motion
control software. Using the built
in wave form generator, the user can easily create a given test in a matter of
minutes to perform Square wave, Sine on Sine, Variable Sine, Triangle and
frequency sweeps as well as any of the standard features found in Shock 6.
Additionally, the user can import their own wave form driven by *.txt,
*.csv, *.xls or *.asc thus allowing
for track displacement playback for real world testing.
